Have you ever had a day where your kids sucked the life out of you? Yeah, me too. Today. It started at 6:00 a.m. when my kids burst out of bed with enough energy for two people each. Apparently, their bodies are still on Day Light Savings Time. Whoever said that was a good idea anyway? I mean really, we trick ourselves into making our days longer? I am sure a mom didn't come up with that one. After being sick for a couple days and completely out of the picture, I found myself with a little one pushing every limit and doing exactly what she was NOT supposed to be doing. She has started eye rolling and looking away and purposefully, avoiding eye contact when I correct her. Sigh.
I have nothing new to report. We still wait for surgery on the priority list (which I am not sure is really anything better than the normal waiting list). Nisha has developed some sores on her abdomen which seem to build up fluid and puss. Eventually, they pop like a pimple, but they are painful until then. On the positive side, I have noticed her making an effort to be sociable around other children by waving to kids in her class or trying to make small talk. That would be a big improvement. I have been checking out library phonics CDs by the dozens and playing them throughout the day. This may be helping because I have caught her stringing together three or four words of intelligible English at a time. Yeah.
Daylight Savings or not, I am counting down the hours to bedtime. I appreciate and love my kids, but sometimes they suck the life out of you. My new house rule is as follows, "Stay in your bed reading or resting until 8:00. " Sounds good in theory. . .I'll let you know how that works out!
